When planning a visit to Walt Disney World, it’s important to plan ahead of time what you will wear during your visit. Wearing the right kind of clothes, or more specifically the wrong kind of clothes, during your visit can greatly impact your day. By preparing ahead of time your Walt Disney World outfits, it will greatly reduce the stress of picking out an outfit each morning as well as allow you to be certain your are prepared for each magical day! To help you determine what you will need to pack for your visit, Pink and Pixie Dust is here to help with our guide to what to wear to the Disney theme parks! We also have some fun tips and tricks and even clothing suggestions to help you plan ahead.
Clothing
Throughout your visit to the Walt Disney World theme parks, the most important factor in determining which clothes to wear is comfort. Long park days require attire that is comfortable for you and is appropriate for the weather. During most of the year, it is very hot in Florida, so you need clothes that will help keep you cool. It can also become quite chilly in Florida during certain times of the year or even just in the evenings. You will want to make sure to check the weather ahead of your trip to see what type of clothing you might need to be prepared with.
Many individuals will opt to wear athletic clothing to the Walt Disney World theme parks because of their comfort and ability to wick away moisture in the warm weather. Pieces like tanks, t-shirts, shorts, leggings, and joggers are great options to wear to the parks. Many individuals also like wearing clothing pieces like t-shirts, jeans or jean shorts, and sundresses. Clothing differs for everyone. You’ll want to choose your attire depending upon whatever you feel most comfortable and your best in!
Shoes
Wear comfortable shoes! During your visit, you will be doing some of the most walking you have every done. It’s important that the shoes you choose to wear can help support you while you do all of this walking and don’t cause your feet extra pain throughout the day. We recommend wearing comfortable gym shoes or sneakers, like Hoka’s, or comfortable sandals, like Teva’s.
Make sure you allow plenty of time to break in shoes ahead of your visit to Walt Disney World and know you will be comfortable walking in these all day. Ahead of your visit, you can test them by going on long walks or exercising in them to see how they hold up throughout the day on your feet. If they are not comfortable, it’s best not to plan to pack these and try an alternative pair instead.
If your shoes you decide to wear require socks, like gym shoes, make sure to pack an extra pair in your park bag each day! Throughout the day, as your feet become sweaty from the walking and warm Florida sun, it helps to be able to switch to a new pair. Additionally, if it starts to rain during your day at the parks, it is very uncomfortable to walk wearing soggy socks, so having an extra pair on hand just in case will be very helpful in the event this does happen!
Bags and Accessories
When visiting a Disney theme park, you will need to carry a bag to hold all of the belonging you will be needing for the day. Factors like how long of a day you are spending at the parks, the weather, the amount items you need, and who is traveling in your group will influence which size and kind of bag you will need for the day. The types of bags that most individuals will choose to carry are either backpacks or belt bags (also referred to as fanny packs).
Small Bags
For days when you are visiting the parks for a short period of time or don’t need many items, a small belt bag may be perfect! These small bags can be comfortably worn around your waist or across your body depending on your preference. When bringing a belt bag to the parks, we can typically fit items such as a phone, lip balm, hand sanitizer, lotion, portable phone charger, and a small wallet all within this bag.
Large Bags
For those that necessitate more items for their day at the parks, we recommend carrying a backpack. These are a comfortable way to be able to carry a large amount of items all day. Traditional large backpacks can hold items such as snacks, water bottles, rain gear, changes of clothing, and more!
Another very popular option at the Disney theme parks are carrying Loungefly mini backpacks. These are smaller backpacks that are designed to feature varying Disney characters, attractions, and more! With so many designs offered, you can find the perfect backpack to match your outfit or favorite character. Besides being an adorable accessory, Loungefly backpacks are the perfect in-between for needing more room than a belt bag would offer, but not needing to carry a full large backpack. In one of these Loungefly backpacks, you can fit a water bottle, a sweatshirt, rain gear, phone, portable charger, wallet, and little items like hand sanitizer.
Ears
Don’t forget your Mickey or Minnie ears! These are such a fun accessory to wear around the parks during your visit! Ears are available in a hat style, a traditional headband style, and an adjustable headband style. Available in many colors and styles, there is the perfect pair of ears for everybody! Did you know you can even have hat style ears embroidered with your name on them? This service is available at Magic Kingdom at Fantasy Faire in Fantasyland and at the Town Square Theater on Main Street U.S.A.
Fun Tip and Tricks:
Try Disneybounding!
Disneybounding is when you create outfits, utilizing everyday clothing pieces, that are reminiscent of specific Disney characters! When you are Disneybounding, focus on choosing pieces that are similar colors as those featured in the character you’ve chosen’s ensemble. You can also get creative utilizing accessories to help designate which character you’re Disneybounding as. For example, if you are Disneybounding as Ariel, wear accessories such as earrings with seashells or carrying a bag with fish or the ocean in it’s design.
